Gelt Gladiator!

Saturday 17th May saw a team of 27 brave World Group warriors take on the inaugural Gelt Gladiator event:

- a grueling 10km obstacle course
- featuring 30 obstacles
- 20 Gladiators
- and tonnes of mud!

Gelt Wood, Cumbria provided the perfect setting for a tough test of stamina, strength and team work.

The day began at World Group where we met and travelled out to Gelt Wood in convoy. With spirits and excitement high, the drizzle and wind was struggling to dampen the mood of our team.

After enduring the car park queue and seeing other entrants walking to the athlete village, our convoy parked up and we made our way to the registration tents to sign in, hand in our waivers and collect our official Gelt Gladiator head band.

Nervous, excited, scared, our warriors made their way to the starting enclosure and take part in the warm up, lead by personal trainers. The reality sank in of what we were about to put ourselves through.

3...2...1...

Plunging into the mud pit 20 yards in front of the start line, our team are off. We set off up the motocross dirt tracks, weaving around the corners, slipping and sliding around in the mud for the first 1km of the course.

Two hours later, with all the obstacles behind us, we had successfully conquered Gelt Gladiator. No words can accurately describe the mud, sweat and tears of the event, so have a look at the picture gallery below to share the experience with us.
